Hope you are having a wonderful summer holiday with family and friends. The GALA team has had a few meetings in 2013 to prepare for this year’s annual GALA.
Save the date: Sat., Nov. 16th at the Country Club of Fairfax. (Doors open at 5:30 p.m.)
It is a great idea to put the date on your calendar sooner rather than later as well as mention it to friends or family who might enjoy this special evening with you. It is going to be a great event and we don’t want you to miss it. We would also like to let you know how you could be involved this year and we are providing some supporting data to inform you of just how much some items donated raise for our school. (A great suggestion by one of the Dads) These are only some of the items that we need for successful LIVE and silent auctions, but they cost little and raise $$$.
We raiseded $2100 from last year's class projects. The all-school project made $1500. It was a very good year with the lowest amount for a class project being $130. 2010 was another good year with the $700 (x2!) for the 5th grade Nativity and the $400 outdoor Nativity. The break-out of the classes from last year:
Little Messengers (LM): $130 blanket
1st: $220 bench
2nd: $200 plate
3rd: $200 bookshelf
4th: $200 Catholic Charities
5th: 280 Christmas wreath
6th: $170 mosaic planters
7th: $410 Advent calendar
8th: $160 outdoor Nativity
2011 had similar amounts and $2000 was “donated” for the Our Lady mosaic which hangs in the downstairs Chapel. Every child’s finger print is in that mosaic. Last year’s beautiful Holy Spirit window (just like the one in Rome) also bears the contribution of every child and now shines over them in the Chapel. There is no requirement to donate your winnings to the school.
We are happy to provide more information at your request, especially if you have an idea about something that could contribute a lot to the school through the GALA. We are preparing an information packet (GALA 101, if you will) to be provided to each family this month.
Thank you for your prayerful consideration of how you can best support the school that you have chosen for your children.
Enjoy God’s creation while you recreate this August.
